Especially now that many companies have switched to home offices, many managers are asking themselves to what extent they can trust their employees. Too much control damages the boss-employee relationship. But does too little control damage your own company?

Home office and now?
Trust is a tricky thing. Trusting one another is essential in almost all areas of life. Whether in private life between friends and life partners, or in a professional context between colleagues or employees and superiors. Trust does not just Cell Phone Number Database appear overnight, but takes time to develop. If a basis of trust cannot develop, mutual mistrust often arises. In the relationship between boss and employee, excessive control or surveillance on the part of the boss is a common consequence. In the following, we will take a closer look at the topic of trust in a professional context.

A particularly current topic
At the moment, many companies have employees working from home. This is accompanied by concerns among some managers that employees could use their time at home for private activities at the expense of the company, instead of being productive and doing their work properly. In other industries, it has always been common for individual employees or entire teams to work in the field. Here, too, the boss cannot always keep track of where his employees are and what they are doing.

Trust is good, control is better?
Trust is also very important in a professional context - and not just when employees work from home or complete assignments elsewhere, but also when they work in the office as usual. A manager who always wants to have a precise overview of every step of his employees' work is quickly labeled a control freak. And constant control and monitoring usually come at the expense of a good atmosphere in the company.

A balancing act...
Of course, a supervisor does not have to give up the reins completely. Rather, it is about balancing the fine line between keeping an overview on the one hand and exercising control on the other. It is about trusting employees to the extent that they are able to work independently. Of course, it can happen from time to time that an employee does not record his or her working hours accurately. Especially in a home office, the postman or neighbor can sometimes show up at the door. But as long as they still do a good job and move the company forward, this small distraction should be bearable.
