The Government expands aid for energy rehabilitation by 78 million

After exhausting the initial allocation of 125 million euros of the PAREER II Programme , the Government has decided to expand by 78 million the aid aimed at improving the energy efficiency of buildings. The application period, open since February 3, will be available until December 31, 2018 (or until the budget is exhausted).

This is the second call for the PAREER program, whose basis is to promote compliance with the objectives set by Directive 2012/27/EU of the European Parliament. With the aim of buildings saving energy and making rational use of it, the Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDEA) calls for these grants focused on existing buildings and distributed in four modalities:

- Improvement of the energy efficiency of the thermal Special Data envelope: actions related to facades, floors, roofs, etc. This modality would include the replacement of old windows with others with greater energy efficiency.

- Improvement of the energy efficiency of thermal and lighting installations: rehabilitation or replacement of heating, cooling systems or electrical installations.

- Substitution of conventional energy for solar thermal energy: use systems that allow us to take advantage of solar radiation as a source of energy for cooking or heating water.



- Replacement of conventional energy with geothermal solar energy: installation similar to the previous one, but taking advantage of the heat of the ground as a source of energy.

Owners of existing buildings of any use, communities of owners, or groups of communities of owners of residential buildings may benefit from this aid. Also the operating companies, tenants or concessionaires of buildings, as well as energy service companies. The main objective of the PAREER program is to reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere , so it will be necessary to demonstrate that the renovation improves the total energy rating of the building.

The minimum that the actions carried out must achieve will be to increase at least one letter on the CO2 emissions scale with respect to the initial energy rating of the building. Furthermore, in the event that the actions reach energy class “A” or “B”, or the energy rating of the building is increased by more than two letters, additional aid will be granted. In order to achieve these scales, one can act on one of the four available modalities, or carry out a combination of several.
